Great-profound thoughts!

I came across a post that expresses my personal philosophy. In fact, couldn't have said it better my self. :thumb:

ΕικόναOk I have been thinking tonight (whilst doing the washing up) why did Jesus die on the cross ? He could EASILY have saved himself because he could do miracles and his dad could easily have intervened.
I dont believe that he died to "atone our sins" - I mean how does THAT work ?
There are many explanations as to why Jesus died on the cross, but none of them sit right with me.

This is what I reckon :-

Jesus came down to earth to spread the TRUTH. You COULD say that Jesus was a "Truther".
He was ignored. Then he was ridiculed. And eventually they killed him on the cross. So why would Jesus let that happen ?

In my opinion, Jesus died purposely to save us from....SLAVERY! - "and the TRUTH will set you free".
To be saved from slavery, all you need to do is to KNOW the TRUTH, and to SPREAD the TRUTH to your fellow man because you love him. Jesus came down to earth to remind us of the TRUTH and he wanted us to spread it.

By dying at the hands of the slavers, Jesus was sending a message out to EVERYONE. The message was that you must keep spreading the TRUTH in order to free YOUR FELLOW MAN, and dont be afraid to die for the TRUTH - Jesus made an example of himself PURPOSELY. We have no reason to fear death ANYWAY because he had said somewhere that we will live forever, and he demonstrated that by his resurrection - That is WHY he was resurrected, in my opinion.

So when you are in doubt about spreading the TRUTH, you could just ask yourself, "What would Jesus do ?".

Btw I'm not religious.

For the purpose of this thread can we please all assume that the bible was factual, just so that this thread isnt de-railed. Cheers!

My thoughts exactly!!! For some reason I can't quote a few of the points that express me the most, but the whole post is something I could have written myself (in Greek!), so...

Yes, I do believe Jesus tried to 'set us free' by the power of TRUTH, and isn't that what most of the religions and philosophies try to teach and give humanity? The key to unlocking the mysteries of the truth... to actually unlocking our own perception of reality and 'truth'. His dying and resurrecting is 'shocking' to our minds, isn't it? Well, a great shock can actually help you see what had been 'unseen'. That's how I feel. He tried to shock us, in order to break the barriers of our minds.

Welcome, by the way, and hopefully we'll see more of you in here :)

But knowing is always experiencing, in the realm of 'truth' :) Truth is living, Christ is the "LIVING TRUTH", remember?

That's why Christ let us kill him, to show us that we had to actually die in order to be re-born. He had already said that to Nikodemus, if I remember correctly, but just saying it to the public wouldn't make a difference. So, he actually DID it!

I think that this was Jesus' message :-
Slavery is a sin.
To let yourself be enslaved or to CHOOSE to be a slave is the ULTIMATE SIN, and it is THAT sin that will cause the most suffering to YOU and your fellow man.
Jesus came here to pass on THAT message.

Choosing to be a slave (and it REALLY is a CHOICE) is what will destroy YOU.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF YOUR ACTIONS/CHOICES. AND UNTIL WE ALL REALISE THIS, THEN THERE WILL BE CONTINUAL SUFFERING.

If you are NOT free to govern yourself, then you are a slave, and NEARLY ALL subsequent choices/actions that YOU take are then based on what you are TOLD is acceptable. You dont have to accept ANYTHING that the PTB tell you. You CHOOSE whether or not to accept it. And YOU are responsible for YOUR choices in the eyes of god/the universe. No-one can force you to become a slave - You chose it. Jesus tried to tell us that, but his story appears to have been altered so that we never realise TRUTH.
The SLAVE is the one who is committing the biggest sin.

The message would appear to be that when we CHOOSE to live as FREE men (and not as slaves) then we should NOT FEAR dying - The fear of dying creates the mentality of a slave.

Fear and personal gain seem to be the main reasons that we CHOOSE to be a slave, and I would say that both of these things are mentioned in the bible alot.

Long time no see :D

Do you know what the difference between us and the slaves in the antiquity is?
Back then, they were slaves and they knew it. Nowadays, we delude ourselves in to thinking that we are free. :punch:

Hey ArELa :)

I think that deep down (VERY deep down :? ) the people DO know that they are NOT free, but AT THE MOMENT they are choosing to remain IGNORANT due to the manipulation which has turned them very fearful/selfish.

It's just a shame that we are CHOOSING to fear/suffer when it is not really necessary. It's very sad really, cos there is no need for the extreme suffering that is happening in the world right now, it doesnt have to be this way. There is a fine line that divides fear and love (and heaven and hell) - Extreme fear/suffering WILL lead to the line being crossed - But WHY must we always have to make ourselves (and our fellow man) suffer before we realise the error of our ways ? :(

People who are in real AWARENESS of their self-enslavement can still be spiritually connected enough to do what is necessary to EVENTUALLY free themselves (and their fellow man) - But we will all continue to suffer until then, but the more we suffer, the more we learn I suppose.

Anyway, it's just a ride really :ups: and with that in mind, then why the hell are we fearing taking our sovereignty back ? :dunno:

The apocalypse says that those who choose to have the mark of the Antichrist is thus who will burn in hell.
this is allegoric. we choose to be ignorant and to gave up our freedom. because is easier to live as a slave with no responsibilities.
And that is why we cannot set our self's free.
Because we made a choice.
free will is a bitch.
sorry for my bad english
